Working for Financial Freedom is a blog that educates readers on how to improve their personal finance situations. Articles and resources are featured to help readers save money, budget, stop spending, and more. The blog posts cover topics like saving money on groceries, investing in stocks or bonds, making the most of your retirement account contributions, and getting out of debt with specific steps you can take to do so.
Budgeting can make or break you.
It is the one thing that will determine whether you are debt free and financially stable or living paycheck to paycheck.
The average American household’s credit card debt in 2010 was $15,800. You can thank the 2008 recession for this number. But besides buying too much on your credit card(s), another big contributor to Americans’ debt is their inability to budget.
You would think that when people are living paycheck-to-paycheck, they might learn their lesson and start paying themselves first. But in reality, many continue to live this way for years and it is a big reason why so many struggle financially over the long term.
With no money left over at the end of the month, it’s impossible to get ahead. You have no extra cash to save, so you can’t start building wealth. And when you’re not saving, you force yourself into a situation where your only option is to take money from another source in order to keep up with expenses and debt payments.
When this happens, the snowball effect of debt continues to grow and it can lead to situations like bankruptcy.
The solution? Budget! A budget is the one (and only) way you will ever finally become debt free.
I know what you might be thinking… “How can I possibly fit everything into one small budget?!”
It’s not as hard as it may seem. 🙂
